7 Mile uphill just got easier.

The club trail gnomes have been at it again!  This time they have added a short easier route. It avoids the bridge, step, steep right hand corner combination near the beginning of the climb from Wilson’s bay.  Once it’s bedded in it’ll be good alternative for those of us that lack the skills to make it up the original section. I reckon it’ll still be enough of a challenge to build those skills though, just with much less risk of injury!

Gondola passes and club membership

Filed under: News — Posted by:qmtbc on 24/07/2011

It sounds like the Skyline MTB season passes will be on sale from the 4th August so we have decided to start offering memberships to the club a bit early to allow members to take advantage of the 10% discount if they offer it again this year.  We will confirm once it is all sorted with Skyline.

The membership rates have had to go up this year to for the first time in many years as we are finding we cannot get as much trail building done per dollar as we used to.  People who know about these things tell me its conflageration or something…

Great Cyclocross Article

Filed under: News — Posted by:Susan on 15/07/2011

Lester Perry from Torpedo 7 writes about the Cyclocross champs recently in Queenstown on his blog, click here to read it. He  says alot of great things about the race and the club ..

2 of my favorite quote from the article;

“It was one of the most fun events I’ve done, the crowd was awesome and made the atmosphere awesome.”

“A big thanks has to go out to the crew from Queenstown MTB Club for backing the event and doing a stellar job of organizing it, although it was funny to see a bunch of dirtjumpers and freeriders running a CX race! haha”

Cyclocross race report and Detailed Results

Filed under: 2011 NZ Cyclocross Champs,News,Results — Posted by:Susan on 06/07/2011

Here’s a fantastic race report of the day written by Steve Knowles from Sportzhub, click here to read it.

The above photos is one of my personal favorites and was taken by Ciaran Jack Design. ‘Like’ Ciaran’s facebook page for some more great shots including some of the winter festival.

And finally, here are the results in more details:

There have been many great photos and the odd movie clip surfacing after the race – the best place to have a look is on the facebook page as you can see other people’s photos.

A couple more of my favorite photos from the day taken by local Sophie Kennedy:
