Bike Sale and Shred day

Filed under: News — Posted by:Brendhan on 30/10/2011

photo of bike saleAfter a threatening start the weather turned out great for the Queenstown Mountain Bike club’s first annual bike sale.  There were loads of bike gear for sale including heaps of bikes and all manner of accessories and components.  Plenty of buyers turned out and got some great bargains. Next year we might look to run it a bit earlier to help everyone get ready for the season.  Thanks to Tom, Debbie, Fraser and everyone else that helped make it a success.  The funds raised here will help the cub build some more fine trails.  After the sale there was some hot downhill racing in the Queenstown Bike Park next door, all up it was a great day.  Hope to see you all there next year!

Wednesday Dig Progress

Tom and the crew made some more solid progress at the Wednesday dig evening last week.  The new Trail into 7 Mile from the town-end carpark is coming along really great!  Big thanks to to all who came along last week.  This is happening every week so come along and help out.  Loads of people responded to the survey that they wanted new XC/AM singletrack and that weekday evenings were the preferred time to build.  This is both of those so come along this week and help they crew build some brand new singletrack!  Meet at the 7 Mile car park (town end) at 6pm every Wednesday.

7 Mile Trail Maintenance Help Required

Some trail maintenance has been happening out at 7 Mile this weekend.  Carey has been out there with the blower grooming up the upper trails.  Together with the cleanup of IB55 and Satan’s corridor Brendhan and Sarah did a couple of weeks ago that should be most of the trails free from winter debris.  However there are still a couple to do so if anyone has a spare couple of hours this week to give Kachoong, and the trails below the hub a quick brush off with the clubs blower contact Carey on 027 485 123. Probably wouldn’t hurt to give IB55 a quick blow off as well after Monday’s wind to get the pine cones off the corners!

Wynyard DH Express Photos

Filed under: News,Wynyard Downhill Express,Wynyard Freestyle Terrain Park — Posted by:Brendhan on 28/10/2011

Sign at the start of the trailThe guys that upgraded the Wynyard Downhill Express for the club have given me a bunch of photos of the hard work they have done.  I rode it on monday night (before the tree fell on it – thanks for clearing that Tom & Jono!) and it’s awesome!  The berms are huge!  It’s riding well so get into it people!  For those that found the drop to the stream a bit daunting there is now a new easy(er) way around with a new bridge to getover the stream so no excuses, get out there and ride it!
