After practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday, Sunday saw seeding runs followed at 2pm by the actual race. There was some world class racing with a closely fought battle for first and the first three places seperated by only 1.33 seconds! At the end of the racing in the mens open it was Sam Blenkinsop sitting in the hot seat with Justin Leov and Matt Scoles 0.93 and 1.33 seconds behind respectively. The top Queenstown local was club member Reon Boe at 3:36.45 just 5.7 seconds down on Blenkinsop, good on ya Reon! Results from the other classes are not online yet but I will update this post with a link when they are. For the top 16 in the mens open check out the photo on the Skyline MTB facebook page here. The atmosphere at the official finish line at the bottom of the steps was lively and social with racers comparing runs and spectators having a good time. For more photos see the Queenstown mountain bike club facebook album.
