Kumar Goes Kiwi!
Local mountain bikers Amy Freedman – Davies and Jarrah Healy are looking for the support from the community to help them raise $5000 to bring the Nepali DOWNHILL CHAMP, Raj Kumar, to Queenstown.
Twenty years young, Raj has the best all round mountain biking skills they have ever seen! Borrowing bikes from the age of seven, he
has used the nature terrain of the Himalayas to build himself up to two years standing downhill champion of Nepal! He only won his first bike in 2011 at the first downhill 3 tiered race across his country. He is also currently a freelance bike guide and mechanic for Himalayan Single Track based in Kathmandu.
When he arrives on Feb 21st (just in time to see Farm Jam!) he will ride bikes, compete in the local QTDH series races, the Dirtmasters DH and Mega Avalanche. He’ll also watch world class competitions, be taught how to build trails and participate in our one and only Queenstown Bike Festival!
Jarrah and Amy have been given an awesome prize to get the support from the community flowing. They have been given a FREE 5 day 4 night biking trip to Nepal, with Raj as your guide. This trip will only be given to a local who can attend the “Welcome” party for Raj at Atlas on Feb 25th. To get yourself in the draw, every donation of $10, ONLINE gets you 1 ticket. $50 5 tickets etc! Amy will be e-mailing everyone from the online website GIVEALITTLE.CO.NZ/CAUSE/KUMARGOESKIWI to invite you to the party. If you cannot attend, you can send a friend on your behalf. Your tickets are handed to you on the night. So far only 6 locals have contributed, so the odds of winning are very high. Other big prizes to be won are a heli bike with vertigo, whitewater rafting from Kiwi Discovery, a bike trip across the Earnslaw with Around the Mountain, lots of clothing and bike parts provided from different local shops and much more!
