After winning the NZ Cup last weekend Queenstown locals Alanna Columb (DH) and Kate Fluker (XC) both managed second places in their respective disciplines at the NZ nationals in Rotorua this weekend. Alanna was the favorite going into the womens elite DH nationals but in an exciting race first place was eventually beaten into second place by Amy Laird (Chrsitchurch) by just half a second with Stophie Tyas (Christchurch) in third. Meanwhile in the womens elite XC race Queenstowner Kate Fluker lead briefly in lap two after the eventual winner Karen Hanlen (Whakatane) had a fall. Hanlen went on to win by nearly three minutes with Samara Sheppard in third a further three minutes behind Kate.
