The Winter Games kicks off again this week with some of the worlds top snowsports athletes competing in a huge range of events including no less than 6 World Cup events! As always watching these world class athletes is free – you just need to turn up and grab a good spot. Check out the WinterGames website for a full timetable. This year there are a couple of bike related events going on with the WinterGames Cyclocross series (Final in Queenstown on the 25th) and the first public cinema screening of the Queenstown filmed mountain bike movie Not Bad as part of the Adventure film festival.
There are plenty of other associated events happening around town with an opening ceremony at Earnslaw Park on Thursday 15 August starting at 5:30pm, A family fun day On Saturday at Remarkables Red Barn (Hawthorne Dr where the Remarkables market is held) and a concert by the Phoenix Foundation at the Memorial Hall on Saturday night.
Of course there will be the Parklife Invitational in the Rec Ground complete with a full blown FMX display so if your two wheeled passion runs to motors as well get down there and check it out from 4:30pm.
