While you are chowing down the Christmas Ham this year, spare a thought for club member Carey Vivian who will be out training rain, hail or shine for his epic 4,000km ride (off-road as much as possible) the length of NZ which starts on the 1st February. Carey, a founding member of the club, was awarded life membership 5 years ago for his services to the club, and still holds a position on the 7 Mile Sub-Committee. Carey stood down from the Committee several years ago to take up a position on the Queenstown Trails Trust, and still holds that position. Without his influence on that Trust, trails we all love like Rude Rock, would probably not exist. Needless to say, the Club is right behind Carey’s ride and encourages members to join him along the way – whether it is just one an hour or a few days. His progress will be tracked live by GPS and linked to his website www.raceagainsttime.co.nz so you can easily find him and meet up. You can also keep up to date with happens via his Facebook page www.facebook.com/raceagainsttime. He can also be contacted on his cell-phone 0274 858 123 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any questions. Happy training!
