7 Mile has a full set of brand new signs in the club’s colours. A couple of months back the club got some funding from Trail Fund NZ that kick started the project and since then the 7 Mile subcommittee have been busy planning the signs and getting them designed and printed up. Club member Ronnie Baker stepped up to do the graphic design work based on the club template that ex president Tom devised and then passed the designs on to Sign-It signs down Glenda Drive to get them printed up.
Finally this week we engaged the services of Extra Mile trail building at a heavily discounted rate to install all the signs at 7 Mile. In the end the number of trail intersections necessitated 71 individual signs, it’s no wonder people have been getting lost out there! The new signs name the trails, grade them on the NZ standard 1-5 grading scheme and provide some indication of where they end up to help with navigation. As well as helping visitors and riders new to the area this should help locals who are less familiar with the exact layout and might even help them to find some new trails and routes.
