The crew at NZ Ski are into their summer maintenance plan at Coronet Peak which involves the base building deck and surrounding area being closed to public access. They are more than happy for mountain bikers to have access to the trails and have worked out a re-routed entrance to the trails.
Essentially they have had to fence off the area around the building for the construction team to have safe access in and out while they’re working on the building – there will be a lot of trucks, cranes, diggers and demolition work taking place.
Please park in carpark 1 and access the mountain via the Greengates Carpark – the drop zone area is closed. There is a trail that runs up and connects to Rude Rock or if riders are heading in the Coronet XC or Corotown direction they will need to go up Wall Street a short way and traverse using the DH trail onto the M1. From here you can climb and join the XC trail at the water culvert. The area around the beginner ski carpets will have trucks coming in and out so please stay well clear of that area – there is signage onsite so it’s clear where to go.
