The Queenstown Mountain Bike Club Story
About Us
Queenstown Mountain Bike Club (QMTBC) was formed in 2003 to support the development of mountain bike trails and riding areas across the Whakatipu Basin — in a way that is coordinated, safe, and sustainable.
More than 20 years on, we’ve grown into one of the largest clubs in the district, with over 2,000 members and a role in supporting and maintaining more than 100km of world-class trails.

Our Role
Mountain biking in Queenstown has seen huge growth in recent years — from local riders to international visitors.
QMTBC plays an important role in that growth, working alongside land managers, partners, and the wider riding community to help shape and support the trail network.
As kaitiaki of mountain biking in Queenstown, we focus on:
-
Maintaining the trails we all ride
-
Supporting sustainable development of new trails
-
Advocating for riders and access
-
Building a strong, connected community
Our People
QMTBC is a member-driven, volunteer-led organisation.
The club is governed by a committee of dedicated volunteers who give their time to help guide and run the club. Supporting them is a small team, including a full-time Club Manager and part-time Marketing and Communications support.
Find out more about our committee and staff here!

Our Community
Behind the club is a wider community of passionate riders and volunteers who make it all happen.
From helping run events and races, to showing up at Wednesday dig nights, this crew plays a huge role in building and maintaining the trails.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
If you’re keen to get involved, come along to one of our community events — you can find out more info here or follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest updates.
