In December 2022, we upgraded our airbag and it is EPIC! The original airbag was awesome but the rate of progression for our members was immense and meant we out grew the bag and needed a bigger one to take its place.
Over summer we endeavour to run airbag sessions every Friday evening at the Wynyard Jump Park, next to the mulch jumps. We post updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages to confirm they are happening each week as it depends on weather and fire risk at the time.
Everyones welcome. All riders must wear a full face helmet and we strongly recommend wearing a mouth guard as well.
Our Airbag Specs:
Our new airbag is 16m long, 8m wide and 4m tall. With a 3m case pad and a 30 degree down slope it works for someone trying smaller tricks at a slower speed, before committing to a faster speed to make it to the down ramp. All up the bag cost close to $25K incl shipping, GST fees & storage fees. We were lucky we had our existing bag to sell to Bike Wanaka and ilabb sponsored some of the cost. Some of the money was even raised by members at their own fundraising events. The bag was made in China by SunPark Inflatables. They had already made some for the top slopestyle athletes in other countries.
