Meet the Committe
Our Dirt Directors!
We’re the behind-the-scenes crew who keep the wheels turning — literally.
From dreaming up epic new trails to making sure the old favourites stay rideable, we’re part problem-solvers, part event-planners, and part dirt addicts. We’re here to represent riders of all styles — whether you’re chasing KOMs, sending it big, or just cruising for coffee.
Our committee is dedicated to developing our WORLD CLASS trail network, putting on legendary events, and ensuring the sustainable growth of Mountain Biking in the Queenstown basin.
We encourage all members to reach out to us with any questions or feedback.

Ash Peters
President & Chief of Stoke
With 15+ years in the MTB world — from co-founding Revolve (NZ’s largest women’s cycling club) to building WORD (@wordnz) into the country’s leading youth MTB charity — she’s taught thousands of kids, trained hundreds of instructors, and helped shape MTB safety and training systems across Aotearoa. After years of adventuring abroad, she’s now stoked to call Queenstown home and help steward the next era of our club.
'We're all here because of the riding. Thanks to a handful of legends who over the past 20 years have put in the mahi to build the trails, dream up the events, and push the limits of what we thought was possible with riding. What a legacy they have created. It's our job to uphold that spirit while welcoming in this new era. We're just getting started...'
Christian Wingate
Trails Portfolio
Christian here. I've been riding mountain bikes since I got a rad 1990 Scott Boulder as a teenager and was immediately hooked. Mountain bikes have taken me all over the world and I'm stoked to be able to give back to the awesome QT bike community.
I have a special interest in progressive trail development that will keep our riders pushing their limits and make Queenstown a world class bike destination.

Emmerson Wilken
Race Events
Emmerson moved to Queenstown in 2007 and got straight into vollie digging. In 2017 he quit his corporate career and landed his dream job as a full time trail builder at Elevate Trail Building. Emmerson has helped build some of the best tracks around the globe, as well as Queenstown's most iconic jump parks, Wynyard and Gorge Road.
Emmerson joined the committee over a decade ago and has been a driving force behind the development of Queenstown's jump scene.
As well as trails, Emmersons other big passion is events and has worked in Ops Management for Crankworx Summer Series, is the Event Director for Queenstown Bike Fest and McGazza Fest and more recently Queenstown's first Natural Selection Tour.
'Now days I ride as much as I can. Dig as much as I can and help other riders progress themselves.
I’m a husband and a dad. And loving Queenstown life.
My ethos is give back as much as this amazing community has given me.'
Courtenay Jamieson
Race Events
After first being initiated into Queenstown's epic trail network and biking community through working at Crankworx, it was an easy life decision to re-arrange everything I knew and move down here permanently.
After being on the committee for Revolve and Trails Wellington previously it was a no-brainer to worm my way onto the QMTBC committee too. From running grassroots women's events to being chief of course for Crankworx I like to think I bring a jack of all trades master of none vibe to QMTBC, and throw myself into any opportunity that arises to help run a MTB event. I'm a huge fan of the stoke that comes from bringing our community together for events and having a good time.
With a background in Emergency Management (and a couple of hectic ED visits) I'm also finding the balance between pushing super hard on the bike, with not axing myself. This has resulted in a new found interest in exploring bike patrol options and how we can make our trails both challenging and safe at the same time.. huge advocate for having a good time and a long and sustainable time on the bike!

Fraser Gordon
Community Events
Fraser has been a staple of the Queenstown MTB scene spanning 2 decades, with this being his 2nd stint with QMTBC, after taking a sabbatical to create & run the Kelly McGarry Foundation from 2016 till 2024
Fraser's passion lies in building new trails, & events & races,
You've also probably heard his voice as well, with him regularly hosting & MCing the infamous Atlas SOS & EOS fundraising parties for QMTBC too.

Ben Bulling
Sustainability
Ben grew up in Queenstown and has been part of the local mountain biking community since the early 1990s. From the early days of riding walking tracks through to convincing the Skyline gondola operators to put the commercial cart on for bike access with his mates, he has witnessed first-hand the evolution of mountain biking into a defining part of Queenstown’s identity.
The growth of the sport has created significant opportunities for both the local community and visitors, and Ben is passionate about ensuring that this evolution is managed sustainably. Drawing on his professional background in project delivery and business, he contributes to QMTBC’s development and strategic direction.
As the lead of QMTBC’s Sustainability Portfolio, Ben brings a particular focus on sustainability and regenerative tourism, helping ensure the club plays a positive role in the long-term future of the region.
Andre Simon
Trails
'I’ve been living in Queenstown for 10 years and love making the most of everything the region has to offer. I’ve spent a lot of that time enjoying the world class mountain biking and have always appreciated the work that goes on behind the scenes by the QMTBC. I’m looking forward to playing a small part in the future of mountain biking in the region. In the mean time I’m just trying as hard as I can to stay in front of my 10 year old son but everyone knows that’s not going to last much longer!'

Jamie Turner
Juniors
I was born in the UK but grew up in Western Australia and spent 14 years in the USA Guiding rock climbing and outdoor programs and now have been here in good old Queenstown for 12 years. I've riding bikes for about 20 years and have a real passion for getting kids out on the trails instead of on computers! My favorite trails are the Ben Lomand trails specifically missing link, creaky winders and squid run. I’ve been a tradie running my own biz all my life but three years ago I retired from construction and took a job at Queenstown primary school as the caretaker so I could spend more time with my kids and teach kids (and more time to ride of course!). My other hobbies include rock, climbing, jiu-jitsu, and making little YouTube videos ( Queenstowns biking dad ). I really hope through the committee that I can work on the junior development program and events for the youngsters.
Hope to see you all out on the trails. Keep on rolling!!
Our Staff
Okay, so they might technically be paid to be here… but that doesn’t make them any less QMTBC froffers.
They’re the ones connecting the dots between passion and progress — turning shared ideas into real projects the whole riding community can enjoy. From trail plans to dig days, comms to coordination, they help keep the wheels turning. These legends are the engine of our ship — our true GSD’ers — backing the volunteers, supporting the vision, and helping keep the stoke high.
Nat Sharples
Club Manager & Director of Good Times
Before stepping into the Club Manager roll, Nat worked as the club's Admin Assistant for 3.5 years before embarking on a 7 month roadie around North America. Her knowledge of the club, the community and her dedication to GSD makes her a force within our MTB community.
Nat froths all things mountain biking but she is also a passionate climber and mountaineer. When she's not on her bike she's usually off climbing some big mountain in the Southern Alps.
'I've been lucky to spend a lot of time working with the local legends that make the QMTBC community as special as it is and I can't wait to work with them all once again to further develop Queenstown's biking scene into something we are all immensely proud of and excited about'.

Rees Morley
Creative Director of Marketing
Rees has long been involved in sport and community — from years in surfing and international surf judging to now fully immersed in mountain biking alongside his whānau.
With over 20 years’ experience in design, branding and marketing, he’s passionate about telling the stories behind the trails — highlighting the people, progression and community that make QMTBC what it is.
For Rees, it’s about building a strong, future-focused club — backing trail development, supporting youth progression, and keeping the stoke high both on and off the bike.
